Field Experiences
All professional education programs at National Louis University are practice-based and include a variety of clinical experiences.
Whether you're an aspiring educator or a doctoral candidate, a clinical focus is at the center of NLU's educator preparation and advancement programs. With field experience embedded in coursework, you will be in the field early and often throughout your program. The National Louis University Office of Field Experiences (OFE) supports B.A. and M.A.T. Teacher Candidates across the University by facilitating quality and diverse classroom or "field" placements through collaborations with community-based organizations, schools, and school districts. These important field experiences -- including observations, student teaching, and internships – provide you with opportunities to apply the knowledge you learn in your academic preparation with real-world practice in birth-12 classrooms, preparing you to be an effective educator. The OFE team partners with you, NLU advising staff, and NCE/Undergraduate College faculty to prepare and plan your successful clinical experiences.
Where We Serve – NCE Partnership Impact
The Office of Field Experience is currently facilitating 1500+ placements for the 2024-2025 academic school year, acting as a pipeline for teacher shortages in public, private, and charter schools across the state of Illinois and beyond.
