Stephen K. Curda, Ph.D., is Special Assistant to the President for Veterans Education at National Louis University. He also serves on the faculty of the National College of Education (NCE) in the Technology in Education program.
Curda holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology and Instructional Technology and has served in faculty and administrative positions at Florida State University, the University of Toledo and the University of West Florida. In addition he's been the Director of Distance Learning with both the Joint Special Operations University at Hurlburt Field, FL., and the Air University at Maxwell Air Force Base, AL.
Curda has served in the U.S. military for more than 28 years, both active duty and reserve. He was Interim Senior Advisor for the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for the Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq. In 2011, he served as the J9 Civil Military Operations Director for U.S. Forces — Afghanistan. He is currently the Commanding General of the 351st Civil Affairs Command at Moffett Federal Airfield in Mountain View, CA.
He has received numerous awards and decorations, including Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Service Commendation Medal, Army Service Achievement Medal and the parachutist badge.
Curda is married to Leslie Curda, Ph.D., Associate Professor in the College of Education at the University of Illinois at Chicagoand full-time mother to their five children: Riley, Piper, Major, Glory Grace and Saylor.
