January 25th 2019, 10pm- Girls Night Out: A Walk through Roseland | Anti-Domestic Sex Trafficking

January is National Human Trafficking Awareness Month in Chicago, Illinois, January 25, 2019 we are taking to the streets to show a physical support against domestic sex trafficking in our communities.  For years we have spoken about human trafficking as if it only occurs in third world countries, when the truth is, it has become an epidemic in our communities’ right here in the city of Chicago. The majority of trafficked children are domestically born, female, whose age of entry is between 12-14 years of age.  Domestic sex-trafficking is the 2nd largest criminal industry earning 32 billion dollars a year.

With so much attention given the shootings and violence in Chicago our children are being exploited in plain sight, in neighborhoods like Roseland on the far Southside of Chicago. In response to this growing epidemic Dr. Kisha Roberts-Tabb and RT& Associates has organized a walk through Roseland at 10 pm at night in an attempt to make a public showing of our support to put an end to the exploitation of our children, women and girls. We are looking to eradicate trafficking one neighborhood at a time.

We are calling this walk Girls Night Out: A Walk Through Roseland because we are targeting those who find themselves victims of street-base prostitution which is the primary form of domestic human trafficking.  On January 25, 2019 at 10pm we will walk the streets standing with those who see no way out of the life, offering resources and love to them.

PAWS Chicago (Pets Are Worth Saving)

Volunteers are the life force of PAWS Chicago. They touch every aspect of our operations and provide the highest-quality care for our pets. This work enables us to magnify our impact and save more lives. Last year, our volunteers donated enough hours to equal the work of 50 full-time employees.

By joining PAWS Chicago’s team of dedicated volunteers, you’ll build strong relationships with other like-minded volunteers, the animal-loving community, and of course, the animals themselves. Working together, we will build a No Kill community where all healthy and treatable pets are saved.

Working with Animals

No matter your experience level, you have the opportunity to provide hands-on care for the dogs, puppies, cats and kittens of Dog Town and Kitty City. You will play with these animals, socialize them, assist with training, keep their space clean, provide adoption support and much more. As you gain more experience, you will work with dogs and cats that need more specialized help. Every day is different and every minute makes a difference. It all starts by becoming a Dog Town Level 1 Volunteer or a Kitty City Level 1 Volunteer.

Working with People

Saving animals depends on people. People who help rescue, foster, adopt and share information about pet homelessness with their friends and family. If you enjoy helping families find the perfect pet for them and being part of that milestone moment, there are plenty of opportunities for you. Our Dog Town Level 1 and Kitty City Level 1 volunteers help potential adopters meet our homeless pets and navigate the adoption process. Our Adoption Counselors work with families looking to adopt, ensuring they have the tools and information to successfully transition their new pet to their home. Our Welcome Desk Volunteers provide outstanding customer service to our visitors, ensuring everyone has a great experience from the second they step through our doors. And our Family Services Program Volunteers help ensure volunteers under 18 and their families have a great experience as well.

Join the fun today—and make a difference—by signing up for an orientation.
