This course is about the learning design for STEAM activities using "Maker" activities, including an introduction to the Maker Movement. The emphasis is on understanding how to scaffold learning in science, technology, engineering and math integrating arts (STEAM) and literature through engaging hands-on activities and design thinking for elementary and middle school age students. Easily acquired, inexpensive materials will be used for most activities to fit every teachers' budget. The workshop format includes tow meetings in a pop-up MakerSpace, one field trip (to the Art Institute) and two online modules. This course has a materials fee of $25.
