NLU alumna receives LinkedIn kudos, highlights social media's importance
LinkedIn, the popular career-focused social media network, recently celebrated a big milestone when it added its 200-millionth member. One of these members is Robyn Shulman, an NLU alumna and former-teacher-turned-writer who founded ED News Daily and also runs a LinkedIn group for ESL/bilingual educators. Shulman was recently name-checked in a LinkedIn blog post celebrating the network's milestone as someone who has used social media to open a new career path. In a post of her own this past fall, Shulman detailed her journey from teacher to writer and how LinkedIn played a pivotal part.
Today the impact of social media is undeniable, and Shulman's story is just one example. In higher education it's providing a new channel for universities -- not only as a way to highlight news and events, but as a forum for students and alumni to offer opinions and share their experiences.
NLU currently hosts a LinkedIn group, as well as Facebook pages for alumni and students, and Twitter accounts for alumni and students. If you already haven't, follow our social media accounts to find out the latest on what's going on at NLU.
