Stranded Students To Start Classes at National Louis University One Month After Argosy Abruptly Closed

NLU, a non-profit, moved remarkably quickly to help distressed students; credits will transfer, no tuition increase

(CHICAGO and TAMPA, April 4, 2019) – National Louis University has been mobilizing in Illinois, Florida and across the nation to help students left stranded when Argosy University abruptly ceased operations on March 8.

Exactly one month later, on April 8, 229 of those students will start classes at non-profit National Louis University. For these students, NLU’s exceptionally quick action brings relief and concludes the anxiety they felt when their programs ended suddenly.  Argosy’s closing left some worrying whether they had squandered years of study and tuition dollars.

NLU has arranged for students from Argosy’s Tampa campus and Online programs to transfer in seamlessly. NLU will accept all their credits, and they will not face a tuition increase. They do not have to apply, as any Argosy student in good standing is guaranteed admission into NLU.

Additionally, NLU is working on making it possible for Argosy Chicago students to transfer seamlessly to NLU. The two campuses are within easy walking distance of each other on Chicago’s Michigan Avenue.

“NLU is deeply committed to our mission of providing access to quality higher education that prepares students for professional success,” said Nivine Megahed, Ph.D., president of National Louis University. “We want this same opportunity for Argosy students, so we are opening our doors to welcome them and provide the support they need to meet their academic and professional goals.”

NLU is known for excellence in programs that focus on teacher preparation, business management, health and human services, social and behavioral sciences, culinary arts, hospitality management and others. The university, which dates to 1886, has earned a premier reputation and has been recognized for its dedication to educating students with diverse backgrounds and experiences. It serves more than 8,500 students per year on its six campuses in Illinois and Florida and online.
