Dear NLU Community,
The NLU Security Council is pleased to announce the launch of a new “NLU Emergency Notification Service”, which will be used to contact you in the case of a University emergency.
The best available number has been pre-entered. If you wish to add any additional numbers, or change your primary number, follow the directions below. Once you register your preferences for the service, you will be able to receive emergency messages from NLU in any or all of following formats:
- Voice (any or all of: home phone, cell phone, work phone)
- Text message (via SMS text messaging)
- Email (using a personal email address of your choice)
Should an emergency ever arise, you will receive updates via all of the message formats for which you have registered. In order to register your preferences, please follow the instructions below.
Though we do not recommend that you do so, you may opt out of the Emergency Notification System simply by removing the Emergency Notification Address and Phone entry in NLU Self-Service through the portal. See instructions below.
In order to ensure your privacy, any phone information that you provide for use by the Emergency Notification Service will not be used for any other purpose, by NLU or anyone else. In addition, we would like to assure you that the service will only be used in situations which require urgent communication to the NLU Community. We plan to test the Notification Service once per academic year, so any charges that you incur from receiving text messages or cell phone calls should be minimal.
Please take the time now to update your contact information so that we may communicate with you in case of an emergency.
If you have any additional questions regarding the Emergency Notification system, please feel free to contact the helpdesk.
