Discussion Board Posts Workshop

Does posting to discussion boards intimidate you? You are not alone. Many students are uncertain about what to say or how to say it. Join this workshop to review discussion board post expectations and to gain confidence with your postings.

Academic Writing Workshop

This workshop reviews the expectations of scholarly writing that you will encounter with your course assignments. The workshop focuses on the main characteristics of college-level writing: cohesiveness, logic, and formality.

Writing Process Workshop

If you struggle with starting or completing a writing assignment, this workshop is for you. The workshop reviews four interrelated steps (prewriting, drafting, revising, and proofreading) that help you manage a paper from beginning to end.

Structure Workshop

This workshop covers the elements of essay, paragraph, and sentence structure. Proper structure in these areas will help you to organize the information in your papers and to avoid incomplete or wordy ideas.

Integrating and Attributing Sources Workshop

Assignments often require you to support your writing with that of professionals. This requirement raises some important questions: When should you quote those people? How much should you quote? How do you embed a quote into a sentence and then integrate it into a paragraph? This workshop answers those questions by reviewing guidelines for properly integrated sources.

APA Style Workshop

This workshop reviews citing and formatting guidelines, which are essential for research-based writing. The workshop also covers the proper language, tone, and mechanics of formal, academic writing.

Revising & Proofreading Workshop

You want to do the best you can with a writing assignment. To that end, it is necessary to double-check your work before submitting it. This workshop helps you check the organization and development of a paper (revision) and check for errors in grammar, usage, and mechanics (proofreading).
