Improved to meet Illinois' new licensure requirements, this education program is designed for certified and experienced teachers who want to take on leadership roles, including principal positions, in K-12 educational settings. Choose from two tracks, General Administrative Endorsement track or Education Leadership (non-endorsement) track.

For teachers who are interested in further developing their teaching skills or meeting the eligibility requirement to be a Reading Teacher or Specialist. Teachers can earn either their state Reading Teacher or Reading Specialist endorsement upon completion.
[+] M.Ed. in Special Education
This NLU Special Education program prepares candidates for a variety of roles working with children and adolescents with exceptional learning needs, such as special education teachers and learning behavior specialists. The program includes LBS1 endorsement by entitlement.
[+] M.Ed. in Teaching, Learning and Assessment, with or without Teacher Leader Major (Also online)
Designed for educators who want to create an optimal learning experience for each and every student, and lead in their schools, districts and other educational environments.
The Teacher Leader major within the M.Ed. in Teaching, Learning and Assessment is being moved to a new program beginning with the Winter 2018 start term — M.Ed./Ed.S. in Teacher Leadership. Complete the form to learn more about this exciting new program!
[+] Ed.S. in School Psychology
NLU's School Psychology program is one of only three education psychology programs in the Chicago area that are fully accredited by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP). Students graduate prepared to work in education psychology or leadership roles in their districts, and they are experienced in functional assessments and education psychology interventions that improve student outcomes. They are eligible for a state School Psychologist Endorsement and NCSP certification.
[+] M.Ed. and Ed.S. in Learning Sciences Education
NLU's Learning Sciences Education programs prepares K-12 educators seeking to integrate learning technologies and instructional design within their classroom. Choose from two M.Ed. concentrations, Learning Technologies for Teachers and Learning Technologies for Coaches, or focus on Learning Technologies for Teachers with an Ed.S.
[+] M.Ed. in Urban Teaching
Develop advanced skills for teaching diverse students in settings that face issues related to poverty, under-resourcing of schools, exposure to health and safety risks, and student achievement gaps.
[+] M.Ed. in Mathematics Education
National Louis University's mathematics education program is designed to help expand teachers' math expertise or help them achieve their middle school mathematics endorsement.
[+] M.Ed. in Early Childhood Administration - (Online Only)
For current and aspiring leaders of center and home-based early childhood programs, this program is also appropriate for preschool owners, Head Start coordinators, and consultants who work with early childhood programs.
[+] M.S. in Counseling: School Counselor (CACREP Accredited)
Improve the lives of students and enhance school communities as a School Counselor. Strong theory-based coursework and applied clinical experiences prepare students for NCC (National Certified Counselor), LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) and LCPC (Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor) licensure.

NLU's MS in Counseling program is accredited by The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).

Doctoral and Post-Graduate Programs

[+] Doctor of Education in Higher Education Leadership (Ed.D.)
Designed to be completed in under three years, this program provides participants with an in-depth study of all functional areas of higher education institutions—with an emphasis on mission-driven leadership, data-driven and research-informed practice and decision-making, and student-centered outcomes.

    NLU’s Chicago campus on South Michigan Avenue occupies five floors of the historic Peoples Gas Building.
