‌Scholarships for Undocumented Students at National Louis University

Part of National Louis University’s mission and values is to provide access to higher education.  NLU has sought resources for undocumented students to enable them to achieve their dream of attaining a college education. NLU is pleased to offer the following scholarship options for undocumented students.


New for the 2020-2021 school year!
The Retention of Illinois Students & Equity (RISE) Act creates a pathway for the undocumented and transgender students to apply for the state Monetary Award Program (MAP). Read more.


NLU Eagle Dream Scholarship

The 2019-2020 application opens February 25, 2019 at 5:00 p.m.

The Eagle Dream Scholarship gives undocumented students who plan to enroll at NLU the chance to receive $5,000 per year to help fund their education. *

How to Apply:

• Be a current applicant to NLU for Fall 2019. If you have not been admitted, you must bring a copy of your high school transcript to the interview.

• Sign up for an interview at Sign up starts at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, February 25, 2019.

• Attend your designated interview time and meet with a Student Finance Representative after the interview.

Scholarships will be awarded on a first-come, first served basis. Once all scholarships have been awarded, students still interested will be added to a wait list in case additional scholarships become available.

* Students must meet the terms of the scholarship agreement, maintain satisfactory academic progress and register for at least 15 credit hours per term at NLU.


TheDream.US Scholarship

National Louis University is a partner school of TheDream.US, an organization that provides scholarships for DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) or TPS (Temporary Protective Status) eligible or approved students.  The scholarship amount is up to $29,000 (plus stipend up to $4,000) toward an undergraduate degree. As a partner school, NLU will charge a reduced rate of $29,000 for tuition and fees. 

Scholarship Criteria:

  • Demonstrate significant financial need
  • Letter of recommendation required
  • Student essays required

First-time college students:

  • High school GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • No earned college credit (excluding dual credit, AP or CLEP)
  • Be accepted and enrolled full-time for the next academic year

Transfer Students:

  • Must have a completed associate’s degree
  • 3.0 transfer GPA
  • Cannot be currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program

Scholarship renewal

  • Maintain a 3.0 GPA
  • Remain continuously enrolled full time
  • DACA/TPS status
  • Must apply for renewal every year in their Dream.US portal
  • Meet eligibility requirements or have an approved exception


  • Application deadline: 2/28/19 to enroll for the 2019-2020 academic year
  • Application decision notification: end of April

Pritzker Access Scholarship

National Louis University is a partner school for the Pritzker Access Scholarship through the Noble Network of Charter Schools.  The Pritzker Access Scholarship awards up to $12,000 per year in a renewable scholarship from the Pritzker Foundation administered by Noble. 

Scholarship Criteria:

  • Must have applied for and be qualified for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)
  • Open to first-time freshman enrolling in NLU’s undergraduate college
  • High School Seniors graduating in 2019 from a Noble Charter Network School

Students should contact their Noble Network school guidance counselor for more information about applying for this scholarship.

Please Note: All National Louis Scholarships require U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status. Undocumented students who meet the criteria may apply to receive the NLU Eagle Dream Scholarship. International students who meet the criteria may apply to receive the NLU Alumni Scholarship and PTK Scholarship.


    NLU’s Chicago campus on South Michigan Avenue occupies five floors of the historic Peoples Gas Building. This landmark building, across the street from the Art Institute of Chicago and Grant Park, is easily accessible by train, bus and car and is surrounded by restaurants, parking lots/garages and shops.
