NCE at IVLA Annual Conference

NCE faculty participated in and presented at the 2020 International Visual Literacy Conference, "Visual Literacy in the Virtual Realm," hosted by the International Visual Literacy Association (IVLA) and held online September 24-26, 2020.

The IVLA Governance and Board includes three NCE faculty members:

IVLA Art Exhibition

Additionally, as part of the IVLA conference, Professors Karen Tardrew and Geri Chesnr co-chaired the VISUAL MESSAGES Virtual Art Exhibition, the first juried virtual exhibition presented by the IVLA.

Dr. Tardrew formed the exhibition committee to strengthen visual literacy in the virtual realm and to respond to the need to promote the arts during the COVID-19 pandemic. The jurors reviewed over a hundred submissions. The art exhibition can be viewed online at kunstmatrix.com and features thirty artworks by twenty-two international artists. It will be free to view until December 31, 2020.

The exhibition was juried by Peter Capreau, senior curator, M Leuven (Belgium); Petronio Bendito, associate professor, designer, artist, and curator, Purdue University (USA); and Dana Statton Thompson, vice-president of IVLA, research and instruction librarian, assistant professor, Murray State University (USA).
