Professor Mark Newman has co-authored a book with Professor Emeritus Donna Ogle, Visual Literacy: Reading, Thinking, and Communicating with Visuals, published by Rowman & Littlefield.
Featured chapters include "Visual Literacy and English Language Learners" by Assistant Professor Xiaoning Chen and "Visual Literacy for Students with Special Needs" by Associate Professor Xiuwen Wu.
In addition, Dr. Newman has published "Studying Social Studies and Visual Literacy to Foster Identity and Community" in Gayle Mindes (ed.), Contemporary Challenges in Teaching Young Children: Meeting the Needs of All Students by Routledge.
