Alum Honored by Chance the Rapper at Awards Show
During the recent Teacher Appreciation Week, Mahmoud Aliamer (M.A.T. Elementary Education '18), a Chicago Public Schools 4th grade math and social studies teacher at Sayre Language Academy, was among the first educators to be honored by singer Chance the Rapper at his new Twilight Awards highlighting talented teachers.
The awards were designed to celebrate ten teachers chosen for their "dedication, originality and creativity in helping their students thrive." The recognition comes with a $30,000 cash prize for each teacher winner, provided by Box Tops for Education, to use half however they wish with the other half for their school.
The musician has plans for this to become a larger, ongoing awards show honoring teachers across America.
