NCE Hosts Education Officials for South and Central Asia
On October 1, a State Department delegation of education officials from South and Central Asia visited NLU while in the Chicagoland area to learn about implementing national English curricula for multilingual societies and to explore best practices in spearheading ESL teacher professional development programs.
Professor Kristin Lems and Associate Professor Jason Stegemoller hosted this meeting with the delegation at the North Shore Campus. Together with Dean Rob Muller, they spoke about education in Illinois and the United States.
The delegation was invited to Chicago through the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) of the U.S. Department of State. Alumni of this highly-selective program include 35 current and 300 former Chiefs of State or Heads of Government. As such, meetings with IVLP participants offer opportunities for their hosts to directly engage in international diplomacy, influence global dialogue, and exchange ideas with global leaders and emerging leaders.
