NCE at the 2018 State Bilingual Conference
NLU colleagues attended the 42nd Annual Statewide Conference for Teachers Serving Linguistically and Culturally Diverse Students, in partnership with the Illinois Resource Center, on December 5 in Oak Brook, Illinois.
Professor Sherri Bressman, Director, School of Teacher Preparation, introduced Dr. Linda Darling-Hammond, who was the keynote speaker for the evening event. Dr. Darling-Hammond spoke on "How Empowered Educators and High-Performing Systems Shape Teaching Quality around the World." The audience of teachers, administrators and teacher educators alike were impressed by her research findings and recommendations for improving education at home and abroad.
NCE conference participation included the following:
- Assistant Professor Mariana Ricklefs was the presenter of the session titled, "Estrategias de Lectura y Escritura para Estudiantes en Programas Bilingües K-2" (Reading and Writing Strategies for Students in Bilingual Programs K-2).
- Professor Kristin Lems was the presenter of the session titled, "Listening First!"
