NCE Bids Farewell to Dean Borthwick
NCE celebrates the exemplary service of Dr. Arlene Borthwick:
- Employed at NLU for 19 years
- Served as a faculty member, program director, department chair, faculty co-chair, and associate dean
- Served as licensure officer and lead for NCATE/CAEP accreditation
- Served on the Board of Directors for the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), President of ISTE Special Interest Group (SIG) for Teacher Educators, in officer roles in several AERA SIGs, and most recently as Chair of the American Association for Colleges of Education (AACTE) Committee on Innovation and Technology (2017-2018)
- Organized sessions where groups of candidates and faculty would serve as co-presenters at state and national technology conferences and the American Educational Research Association (AERA)
- Planned and participated in study tours to Costa Rica, New Zealand, and Finland
- Served as one of the founding editors of the National College of Education’s online journal, i.e.: inquiry in education
- Has maintained a scholarly agenda throughout her career at NLU, including presentations, published articles, book chapters, and a co-edited book
And, as she eases into retirement, Dr. Borthwick is collaborating on a proposal for an edited book on building capacity for infusing technology in teacher preparation.
