In addition, ISBE has approved experienced educator programs for Reading Specialist, Principal, Superintendent, School Psychologist, School Counselor and Technology Specialist.
Who We Are
Founded by pioneering education reformer Elizabeth Harrison, NCE has always been a leader in progressive education. We might be one of the oldest colleges for education in the country, but we’re also one of the most innovative. We believe that the most effective teaching methodologies are backed by solid research. NCE research and advocacy created the kindergarten movement in America, established bachelor's degrees for elementary school teachers, founded the PTA and laid the groundwork for the Head Start program. And 70 NCE-educated teachers have been honored by the Golden Apple Foundations of Chicago and Rockford, more than any other school of education in the state of Illinois.
