An impressive 86 percent of employers included in the GMAC 2017 Corporate Recruiters Survey said they planned to hire MBA graduates in 2017, compared with 79 percent in 2016.2 Among employers who planned to hire new MBAs in 2017, 89 percent planned to increase or maintain the number of MBAs they hired compared with 2016.2

Benefits of an MBA: MBA Graduates Earn More

The GMAC 2017 Corporate Recruiters Survey found that more than half (52%) of employers planned to increase starting salaries for new MBA hires in 2017, either at the rate of inflation or higher.2 Specifically, US-based employers planned to offer recent MBA graduates a median starting base salary of $110,000 in 2017, up from $105,000 in 2016.2  In addition, 65 percent of US employers offered a signing bonus to recent graduate business school hires. The median signing bonus was $15,500.2

  •  Technical (including qualitative and quantitative analysis, and technology skills)

  •  Managerial (including managing the decision-making process, human capital and administrative activities)

Global competence is also a key area for modern business leaders. Global competence refers to developing a deep understanding of the international landscape, including an appreciation for and the ability to collaborate with diverse groups of people from different cultural backgrounds.8 With the increasingly global nature of business, global competence is one of a leader's most valuable assets.
