Earn College Credit while in High School
National Louis University has partnered with High School District 214 to allow high school students to simultaneously earn college credit for select high school courses. District 214 students are able to earn high school credit while attending their high school course.
By enrolling in dual credit courses, students will earn National Louis University college credit which will allow the student to graduate college sooner because the credit hours earned go towards their college degree. By doing so, this will also save students and family’s money and potentially reduce the amount of student loan debt for those students who need to borrow for college.
We encourage students to investigate Pathways at NLU. This program, in conjunction with the dual credit already earned, will allow students to earn their bachelor’s degree in less than four years. The cost of the Pathways program is only $10,000.00 per year and financial aid is available for those that qualify.
Students can earn National Louis University credit for enrolling in the following D214 courses:
Honors College Accounting; College Business; Entrepreneurship. These courses fit within NLU's Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. A concentration in Entrepreneurship is also an option.
College Introduction to Education and Education Academy. These courses fit within all of NLU's undergraduate education degrees.
If you take a dual credit course and decide on another major at NLU, your dual credit courses will likely apply to your degree as free electives. More information about dual credit at NLU can be found in our catalog.
Students must select and register for dual credit in conjunction with their high school counselors and must meet all course prerequisites. If the student remains in the course for the entire school year and receives a grade of C or higher, the student will automatically earn both high school and college credit. College credit will be reflected on their academic record with National Louis and available by transcript. Students interested in ordering a transcript should wait until the grade is posted which will be at the end of June. There is no cost for enrolling in dual credit courses. The only cost is if you require and order a transcript from National Louis University.
National Louis University also accepts AP credit for any AP course when a score of 3 or higher is earned on the AP exam.
These opportunities to earn college credit prior to beginning your undergraduate studies will allow you to complete your degree in less time, possibly as little as three years, greatly reducing the cost of your college education.
