Biography:
Howard R. Zacks is a Professor in the School of Business and Management in the College of Professional Studies and Advancement at National Louis University (NLU). He teaches courses in and economics, finance and accounting, primarily MBA510: Macroeconomics, MBA514: Managerial Accounting and MBA 501: Graduate Management Foundations in the MBA Program as well as MGT444: Financial Decision Making in the BSM Program. Professor Zacks has been at NLU since 1994.
After serving as Associate Dean and Acting Dean of the College of Management and Business at NLU, Dr. Zacks was named Dean where he also was a member the President’s Cabinet. Dr. Zacks was responsible for guiding the development of several new programs for working adults including the Master of Science in Managerial Leadership (MSML), the Master of Business Administration (MBA), and on-line versions of the Bachelor of Science in Management (BSM) and MBA. Dr Zacks served in these administrative positions from 1994-2001 when he became a full-time faculty member.
Dr. Zacks also spent 18 years at General Motors Institute (now Kettering University). He began as an Assistant Professor of Economics in 1969 and was named professor in 1976. He became Head of GMI’s business school in 1982 and Executive Director of Graduate Studies and Program Development in 1986. At GMI, Howard initiated and managed the development of several new programs including the Master of Science in Manufacturing Management, GMI’s first program for working adults.
Professor Zacks also spent six years at Compuware, one of the world’s largest computer software and services corporations. He was Director of Education of Compuware’s Educational Resources Division which provided computer training for employees of major organizations throughout the U.S., Canada, and Europe. Early in his career, Professor Zacks also served as a budget analyst and speech writer for City of Detroit Mayor Jerome Cavanaugh.

- The leading indicator apoptroach of the Conference Board
- Federal Reserve System monetary policy
- Application of managerial accounting principles to business decisions
