Biography:
In addition to 15 plus years of non-profit public health agency and professional health association experience, Mya is an accomplished program director with extensive practical knowledge in directing counseling and health promotion initiatives in private and public environments. Mya’s experience with governmental health departments and association management honed her skills to analyze beneficiary needs, design and execute health education programs, counsel on health issues, and evaluate project performance. Her expertise includes budgeting, fiscal and programmatic monitoring, strategic partnerships, marketing, and program implementation, administration and operations.
Education:
Mya holds a bachelor’s degree in community health from Northern Illinois University, dual master’s degrees in public health and business administration from Saint Xavier University and a doctorate in health administration from Central Michigan University.

Research Interest: Social injustice and health
Teaching Philosophy: My teaching philosophy dictates a student-centered approach that incorporates a variety of learning styles and assumes that both the teacher and learner bring something to the learning experience. One of my objectives as an instructor is to encourage students to critically think and to also help them find personal connections to the course material.
