Clinically, Dr. Wesley specializes in marriage and family issues and the treatment of addiction. He has been teaching for over 20 years and is a leader in counselor education and supervision where he has shaped the profession through online and hybrid/blended education.

Biography:

Dr. Martin Wesley is a professor and the chair for the counseling programs at National Louis University in Florida. He was formerly the chair for the College of Counseling, Psychology and Social Sciences at Argosy University in Tampa and professor of counselor education. He also served as the dean of the School of Counseling for University of the Cumberlands. He has served as a licensed professional for over 20 years in Arizona, Kentucky and Florida.

He has been a leader in counseling regulation and has served for eight years as a member and chair for four years for the State of Kentucky’s Board of Licensed Professional Counselors. He has served as a CACREP accreditation liaison and site team visitor. He is a Kentucky Colonel and has been honored with various awards and recognitions including the Kearney Campbell Memorial Award and the Counselor Educator of the Year from the Kentucky Counseling Association.

He has presented at regional, national, and international conferences and has been published in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters and more. He lives with his wife of over 34 years and loves spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Research Interests: addiction, animal-assisted therapy, spirituality and mental health, distance learning and the study of helpers and their families.
