She was awarded the title of Professor Emeritus at that time, and continued to teach at least two courses each term at NLU since then.  She has also taught for Eastern Illinois University and is currently teaching at the College of DuPage.

Teaching, consulting, and counseling have been the three major threads in Dr. Scescke’s diverse professional life.  She has taught at the elementary, high school, and university levels; served as a high school social worker, as well as a juvenile probation officer; and was a counselor in a number of social service agencies.  Her consulting activities include Train the Trainer workshops at a variety of organizations, such as police departments, community colleges, and health care organizations; Outplacement Consulting; Career Planning and Assessment; and Leadership Assessment projects at AT&T, US Cellular, SBC, T-Mobile, and United Airlines.

Dr. Scescke believes in the principles of adult education and focuses on praxis, the application of theory to life experience.  She regards adult education – as well as life as a whole – to be a continual process of unlearning, learning, and re-learning.

Dr. Scescke holds a Doctorate in Adult and Continuing Education (with a concentration in Human Resource Development) from Northern Illinois University, a Master’s Degree in Administration and Organizational Behavior from George Williams College, and a Master of Social Work (MSW) from George Williams College.
