Dr. Linell Monson-Lasswell, Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership, has an extensive background in curriculum and educational administration.  Dr. Lasswell has been an assistant professional at National Louis since the 2007-08 school year, teaching a wide variety of topics including designing curriculum and assessment, effective supervision and professional development, school finance, academics systems, effective leadership and communication, and data driven decision making.  She has taught across the university campuses in Illinois and Wisconsin.  In addition, Dr. Lasswell is currently serving as the Co-Chair of the Educational Leadership programs in Illinois and Florida.  Prior to joining the NLU faculty Dr. Lasswell was the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum/Instruction in the DeKalb Community Schools.  She also has experience as the General Director of Curriculum and Professional Development, the K – 12 Mathematics Coordinator and 20 years of secondary level mathematics instruction for the Rockford Public Schools.  Her interests include leadership development, curriculum and instruction, supervision, development of academic systems, strategic planning and professional development.  As a consultant to several districts, Dr. Lasswell provides professional development in the areas of effective math instruction, establishing  professional learning communities, effective use of data and the development of successful improvement, principal mentoring, strategic planning and mentoring for other district central office educational leaders.  She recently provided consultation to Haskell Academy in Rockford, Sycamore Schools, DeKalb Community Schools, Harlem Consolidated Public Schools, Kinninnick School District  and the Regional Office of Education.  She has presented at the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) Regional and National Conferences, the National Council of Supervisors of Mathematic’s Conferences (NCSM), the Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics (ICTM), the Association of Supervisors of Curriculum Development National Conference (ASCD) and at the Sloan International C Workshop on Technology and Education.  Dr. Lasswell can be reached at
