Biography:

After graduating from Northern Illinois University with a BA in English I served as an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer from 2001 to 2003 where I ran a tutoring program for Kindergarten through Third graders at O.W. Holmes Elementary School in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago. In 2005 I began my first professional position as a librarian in the Education, Philosophy, and Religion Department at the Parkway Central Library of the Free Library of Philadelphia. While there I developed and taught introductory computer skills classes for adults and ran a gaming program for teens. In 2010 I became an instruction librarian at National Louis University. I began managing circulation and interlibrary loan in 2011, and electronic resources in 2013. I am based at the Wheeling location of NLU.

Education:

Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Philosophy from Northern Illinois University - 2001

Masters of Library and Information Science from Dominican University - 2005

Masters of Science in Human-Computer Interaction from DePaul University - expected graduation 2018

Research and Interests:

Human-computer interaction, specifically developing interactive digital learning objects to help students better understand research and citation.

Data visualization and assessment of library services.
