Dr. Leah Horvath is the Program Director and Associate Professor in the Illinois School of Professional Psychology. Leah received her undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and her masters and doctorate in Clinical Psychology from The University of Kentucky, with a focus on cognitive-behavioral treatments and clinical administration. Leah has specialized clinical training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) including completing her pre-doctoral fellowship in the DBT program at the Yale-New Haven Psychiatric Hospital. Leah completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the University Counseling Service at New York University, where she specialized in the treatment of individuals with eating disorders. After completing her postdoc, Leah returned to Chicago and joined the faculty of ISPP (formerly at Argosy University, Chicago) as the associate program dean.

Leah is a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of Illinois. She works with adults in individual therapy focusing primarily on problems related to anxiety, depression, trauma, and disordered eating. Leah notes that she loves being a psychologist - she feels privileged to work with clients in therapy and is honored to be a part of training future psychologists at NLU.

Outside of her professional roles, Leah enjoys reading, yoga, attending theater and concerts, playing tourist in Chicago, and especially spending time with her husband and their two children.

Research and Interests:

My clinical areas of interest involve Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), treatment of individuals with eating disorders, exposure-based interventions for anxiety disorders, cognitive processing therapy for clients with trauma-related disorders, and mindfulness and acceptance based cognitive-behavioral therapies. My research interests include issues in romantic relationships, therapy outcome research, and factors related to the positive professional development of psychologists and trainees.
