Carol’s professional foci include school leadership, and change / school turnaround leadership; qualitative research; arts-based educational research; and doctoral student education and mentoring.

Biography:

Since 1998, Carol A. Burg has served the National Louis University Florida Regional Center in various leadership capacities as well as teaching various educational leadership, education policy, curriculum, and research courses within the Educational Leadership (EDL) and Teaching Learning & Assessment (TLA) graduate programs. She is currently Assistant Professor at the Florida Learning Center, and Director of the Florida EDL Doctoral Program and TLA Program.

Carol Burg’s editorial experiences began in 2001 as the Assistant Editor for the journal Mentoring & Tutoring (UK); she is now co-editor of the journal i.e.: Inquiry in Education (National Louis University). She also currently serves on the panel of reviewers for several journals: The Qualitative Report (Nova Southeastern University, Ft. Lauderdale, FL),  Teacher Education Quarterly (University of the Pacific, CA), The International Journal of Critical Pedagogy (Montreal, Canada), The International Journal of Mentoring and Coaching in Education (UK),  and Mentoring & Tutoring: Partnership in Learning (UK).  She thoroughly enjoys guiding graduate students with their theses and dissertations, helping bring their authentic inquiries to fruition. She also currently serves as co-chair of the NLU Institutional Research Board.

Education:

Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration with a cognate in Educational Leadership, University of South Florida.

Research and Interests:

Carol Burg has recently presented at The American Educational Research Association Annual Conference (Vancouver, Canada, 2011), the 9th International Congress of Qualitative Inquiry (2012, 2013) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, at the British Educational Research Association annual conference, University of London, London, U.K. (2014), as well as at the BERA conference at Queen’s University, Belfast, UK (2015). She will also be presenting at the SERA Conference at the University of Dundee, Scotland, U.K. in November 2016.  

Publications:

Carol Burg has published Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration with a cognate in Educational Leadership, University of South Florida.

in The Journal of Critical Inquiry into Curriculum and Instruction, as well as a chapter in Emancipatory Educational Inquiry: Experience, Narrative, & Pedagogy in the International Landscape of Diversity; she has also published in the journals Mentoring & Tutoring, and Taboo: The Journal of Culture and Education.
