Graduated degree in Curriculum and Instruction with Advanced Professional Specializations

M.Ed. or Ed.S. Curriculum and Instruction with Advanced Professional Specializations

The National Louis Curriculum and Instruction with Advanced Professional Specializations program is designed for experienced career-oriented educators seeking to amplify the power and versatility of their credentials by adding concentrations in areas of content expertize. Offered as a Master of Education (M.Ed.) or Educational Specialist (Ed.S.), this program enables teachers to expand their job qualifications directly and efficiently through online courses leading to endorsements in high-demand specializations.

Educators who already hold a Master’s degree will select the Ed.S. program. Students looking for advanced proficiency in their field may choose an Ed.S. only, or continue on to earn a doctorate.

M.Ed. and Ed.S. students can choose two of the following concentration areas:

  • Curriculum and Instruction
  • Early Childhood Special Education
  • English as a Second Language
  • English as a Second Language and Bilingual Education
  • Learning Behavior Specialist I (LBS I)
  • Mathematics Education
  • Reading Teacher
  • Personalized Option
  • Seek to expand your teacher qualifications with high-demand endorsements in areas such as ESL, Bilingual Education, Special Education, Reading, or Math Education.

  • Value personalized education that enables you to make choices about your program content.
  • Value learning from NLU education faculty who deeply understand and respect teachers — because most NLU education faculty served previously as PreK–12 teachers themselves.
  • Enjoy a stimulating learning approach that combines the convenience of online courses with live video conferencing with your NLU faculty and fellow educators, giving you the human feel of interpersonal involvement without the hassles of physical commutes to classes.

NLU's Curriculum and Instruction programs assure greater choice and convenience in selecting a professional pathway to a specific high-demand specialization area or a full, in-depth M.Ed. or Ed.S. degree in advanced specializations that add power to your status as a Subject Matter Expert.

  • Advanced subject matter expertise in your selected fields, including Bilingual Education, ESL, Curriculum and Instruction, Reading, Special Education or Math Education.
  • Real-world applications — Faculty-directed school-based assignments and field activities
  • Integrated approach — The program’s career-building seminars help candidates bring together everything they’ve learned in an effective approach to the classroom.
  • In-demand specializations — Candidates earn endorsements in teacher shortage areas and other high-needs areas.
