Dr. Sharon Baksh
Director, Office of Field Experiences
Sharon oversees all NCE collaborations with area schools and districts-and coordinates the activities in the Office of Field Experiences. She and her colleagues are committed to strengthening the already positive working relations NCE has with its partner schools and districts. She oversees all clinical placement experiences for Early Childhood Education, Middle Level Education, Secondary Education, and Special Education. She works with department chairs and faculty to ensure that students engaged in either teacher observations or student teaching have excellent and diverse learning experiences that meet the highest expectations of the profession. In addition, Sharon works with NCE's partner schools and districts to help them create a more comprehensive professional development model that provides both degree and non-degree continuing education for pre-service and in-service teachers.
Field Experience Manager
Florence is the primary liaison for students in the Elementary, Early Childhood, and Special Education programs and coordinates the placement of student teachers when it is time for their field experience with NCE's partner schools. She maintains the database for Elementary, Early Childhood and Special Education—and keeps track of applications and placement confirmations from schools so that students will meet University and state requirements to become licensed teachers. She also works with the Program Coordinator to assign supervisors and handles voucher assignments to the cooperating teachers.
