March 2018

Dear NLU Adjunct Community,

Periodically throughout the academic year, National Louis hosts university-wide meetings to offer participants an opportunity to ask questions, share news, and express concerns to the senior leadership. The focus of the most recent meeting, held on January 16, was the exciting announcement of the transfer of Kendall College's programs and other assets to our institution, pending regulatory approvals and finalization of the legal contracts.

Kendall currently offers baking and pastry, business, culinary arts, early childhood education and hospitality management programs. There are approximately 1000 Kendall students across these programs in both face to face and online modalities. Once all approvals are in place, Kendall students would become part of the NLU community.

As part of the transfer agreement, NLU plans to expand its campus at 122 S. Michigan Avenue, adding another floor and building out kitchens, classrooms, and other spaces suitable to support the baking and pastry, culinary arts and hospitality programs. There will be a third college established within the University that will be known as the Kendall College of Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management at NLU. Kendall’s hospitality, culinary arts, and baking and pastry students will remain primarily at the current Kendall facility until the new kitchens are completed at NLU.

Several teams have been put in place to manage the process and ensure a smooth transition for all students, faculty, and staff. We are establishing communication methods that will keep the NLU community informed throughout the process. More details will be forthcoming as the work unfolds. Any questions regarding the Kendall College announcement can be submitted to

We look forward to the ongoing dialogue in the coming weeks about this exciting development.
