Professional Development
Emerging Leaders Program
The Program features educational and experiential components, fosters a broad perspective of the University as an enterprise and promotes skill development to enhance leadership effectiveness all while working on a strategic university project. The ELP stresses the collaborative leadership model, building a collegial network of professional support, in which leaders share resources, networks, intelligence, perspectives, and assets.
Tuition Benefits
National Louis University encourages employees and their families to further their education through lifelong learning. Toward that end, the University makes available certain opportunities and tuition benefits.
Manager Foundations Series
The Manager Foundations series provides new managers the resources and knowledge needed to be a successful manager at National Louis University. Developed managers are also provided the opportunity to attend parts of the series as a refresher course.
Staff Council
The mission of the Staff Council is to represent and promote the interests of the staff and serve as an active advisory group to the University administration in areas that pertain to the welfare of the staff and matters that may benefit the University as a whole.
Faculty Senate
The Senate is the board of the Faculty Association, principal agent of faculty governance at National Louis University.
University Leadership Council
The purpose of shared governance, through the University Leadership Council, is to enable those who are affected by decisions to work together to build consensus around important issues facing the institution. Broad participation by these representatives chosen by their respective groups increases the level of employee investment in the decisions leading to greater institutional success.

Coffee Breaks
The Coffee Breaks series provides employees an opportunity to "hear it from a peer." Our internal experts on various topics meet with an intimate group of employees on a monthly basis to provide their best practices and past experiences as a learning opportunity for everyone.
Personal Development
Month of Service
Each year the month of May is dedicated to community service, in which employees are encouraged to participate in a half day of community service. Employees, Staff and Faculty, come together at our Spring Connection to celebrate our service.
"Perspectives"
At no cost to the employee, Perspectives, Ltd, our employee assistance program, offers easy to use online-services for employees and their families. The services range from child care and elder care to travel or event planning. Onboarding
Online Adjunct Orientation
NLU has created an innovative online “Just In Time” adjunct orientation and professional development suite which enables our adjunct faculty to quickly get up to speed on the policies, procedures and teaching systems at the university. Once an adjunct faculty member is hired at NLU, they can access the training online from anywhere, anytime (even on a mobile device) creating an easily accessible and welcoming experience for our adjunct faculty.
Employee Orientation
Employee orientation serves as an introduction to the NLU culture, shared values, leadership and key University policies. Orientation provides employees the opportunity to receive materials, interact with new employees and ask questions. Orientation is scheduled upon hire, if any changes they will be communicated by HR.
