Mathematics/Quantitative Studies (B.A.)
Program Description:
From balancing your checkbook to balancing the books of your company, your ability to use and understand mathematical principles and concepts is one of the keys to personal and professional success. Learning math is more than learning numbers and formulas; it is a field that teaches you how to think logically, work through problems, understand connections and discover patterns.
NLU’s interdisciplinary approach to mathematics will give you the chance
to solve problems using census data—and information about population dynamics and inflation trends. You’ll study geometry, calculus, probability
and statistics, computer programming and discrete mathematics—and find solutions to problems using mathematical methods and computer technologies.
We’ve also designed our courses to respond to the demands of our ever-increasing technological society and to give you a strong preparation for graduate studies or for a career in management, business and industry, operations research and many scientific fields.
How You Will Learn:
NLU is nationally ranked by U.S. News and World Report for offering small classes—and nearly all of your mathematics and quantitative studies classes will have a maximum enrollment of 20.
What You Will Learn:
- An expanded understanding of mathematical principles.
- How to apply mathematics to problems and issues.
- How to use technology as a problem-solving tool.
- How to write computer programs to solve mathematical problems.
- How to recognize and express issues as mathematical ideas.
Where You Can Take the Program:
At NLU’s campuses in Chicago and Skokie (North Shore).
