Program Description:

The ability to communicate effectively in writing is a prized skill in today’s workplace. NLU’s English program, with a concentration in either Literature or Composition, can give you a solid foundation for careers in areas such as business, law, medicine and teaching. The concentration in English is also designed for those of you completing K-9 certificates.

How You Will Learn:

NLU is nationally ranked by U.S. News and World Report for offering small classes–and nearly all of your English classes will have a maximum enrollment of 20.

What You Will Learn:

  • Information about the major writers and periods of English and American literature.
  • Information about the cultural traditions found in minority literature.
  • A broad understanding of the various types of composition and literary traditions.
  • A foundation in language, rhetoric and composition theory.
  • How to analyze and critique writing.

At NLU’s campuses in Chicago, Lisle, Skokie (North Shore) and Wheeling.
