Applied Behavioral Sciences (B.A.)

Program Description:

Applied Behavioral Sciences (ABS) is one of the most popular academic programs at NLU—and you can find our ABS graduates in human services, public administration, community organizations and the many areas that value teamwork, interpersonal communication and leadership skills. It also offers a strong academic foundation if you want to take graduate courses in law, psychology, business and education.

How You Will Learn:

ABS is taught using a cohort model, which means that you will go through the program with the same group of 12-20 students. NLU graduates like the cohort model because of the shared professional experience and supportive relationships provided by their fellow students throughout the program.

What You Will Learn:

  • How to apply course knowledge and theories to real-world situations.
  • How diverse cultural backgrounds impact today’s workplace
    and communities.
  • How to conduct survey and observational research relevant
    to your interests.
  • How to analyze ethical dilemmas and provide solutions
    to complex problems.
  • How to think critically, make sound decisions, solve problems and keep learning throughout your life and career.
  • How to apply course knowledge and theories to real-world situations.
  • How to conduct an independent research project.

Where You Can Take the Program:

At NLU’s Illinois campuses in Chicago, Elgin, Lisle, Skokie (North Shore) and Wheeling as well as in Tampa, Florida.
