University Leadership Council

The purpose of shared governance, through the University Leadership Council, is to enable those who are affected by decisions to work together to build consensus around important issues facing the institution. Broad participation by these representatives chosen by their respective groups increases the level of employee investment in the decisions leading to greater institutional success.

Moreover, shared governance should aim to streamline decision making by reducing redundancies, thereby making for a more nimble organization. Specifically, the Council provides both structure and procedures through which faculty, staff, students, and administration can develop and implement shared governance at NLU and communicate about important issues, connecting various constituents in shared efforts to fulfill the university’s mission.
