Career Services

The Office of Career Services provides career counseling for current students and alumni of NLU for no charge. We can help students choose a major, explore career options and provide career guidance. And through the Virtual Career Network students and alumni can connect to employers with open jobs.

Academic Advising

NLU’s academic advisors are here to help you choose and register for classes, track your path to graduation, transfer credit from other schools or earn credit for work/life experience, and connect you with other student resources.

Student Services

National Louis University is a “you” university. Everything that we do is centered on your success. We have academic advisors to help you choose the classes you need to graduate on time. We have tutors waiting to help — both online and in-person — if you need extra assistance with any course or subject. And we have career counselors who can show you how to translate your NLU education into a fulfilling and successful career.

Orientation and Registration

Students new to NLU will be introduced to student support services and learn more about university policies during student orientation. Also during orientation, you will meet the Academic Advising Center staff, who will assist you in registering for classes. Remember: Before you can register, you need to make an appointment with an advisor to have your courses approved.

Advising and Tutoring

You should never feel alone at NLU. The Academic Advising Center is here to help you choose the right courses to meet the graduation requirements of your program, and Learning Support provides tutors for assistance in math, writing, and study skills. Advisors and tutors are available in person, online, or over the phone.

Service and Volunteering

Ever since our foundation, NLU has been a fixture of the community. We believe that service learning is the best kind of education — applying classroom knowledge to make a positive impact in our cities and neighborhoods. Visit the Civic Engagement Center to learn how volunteering can expand your education.

    NLU’s Chicago campus on South Michigan Avenue occupies five floors of the historic Peoples Gas Building. This landmark building, across the street from the Art Institute of Chicago and Grant Park, is easily accessible by train, bus and car and is surrounded by restaurants, parking lots/garages and shops.

  • ELGIN

    Conveniently located in a fast-growing business district off I-90 and Route 31, NLU Elgin features 10 classrooms with high-tech media equipment; a computer lab with high-speed Internet access; two conference rooms; and comfortable student lounges. Parking is free at this recently remodeled and upgraded teaching site, which now includes wireless Internet access.

  • NORTH SHORE

    Opened in the summer of 2006, NLU North Shore at Skokie is a state-of-the-art modern campus located just off the Edens Expressway near the Old Orchard Shopping Center. The campus includes 44 wireless classrooms equipped with high-tech media equipment; four computer labs with high-speed Internet access, including a walk-in lab in the library; six conference rooms; a public café for beverages and snacks; a student welcome center; a library for research and study; and multiple, comfortable student lounge areas.

    Located in one of Chicago's major northwest suburbs, the newly renovated NLU Wheeling includes 20 classrooms with high-tech media equipment, four conference rooms, four computer labs with high-speed Internet access, large student lounge areas with wireless capabilities and interactive video capabilities, and an extensive research library. The site also houses the university library research collection.
