Biography:

Dr. Wen is an assistant professor of Early Childhood Education. She joined the National-Louis University in 2008. Dr. Wen’s research primarily focuses on interpersonal relationships among children, parents, and early childhood professionals, and early childhood intervention for high-risk families with young children. She has extensive research experience with the Head Start community. Dr. Wen worked on a research project funded by the Head Start Bureau examining the combined and interactive contributions of both early childhood classroom process quality and parent involvement to Head Start children’s school readiness. She also participated in the University of Chicago Doula Project. The project is a randomized trial assessing effects of a perinatal intervention for low-income African-American young mothers and their infants, with the goals of promoting good obstetrical outcomes, breastfeeding, responsive parenting, parental efficacy, and child development. Dr. Wen studies intervention implementation, processes, and efficiency in various types of intervention programs, including home visiting programs and center-based child care programs.
