Biography:

Dr. Scott Karakas currently serves as Associate Professor and General Education Program Director at NLU's Chicago campus. He has been working in academia since 1999.

Recent projects include a chapter on “Expressions of Chronic Pain and Suffering in Western Art” for the 2011 book Maldynia: Multidisciplinary Perspectives on the Illness of Chronic Pain; a presentation on “Some ‘Dos and Don’ts’ for General Education Programme Assessment” for the June 2012 conference on General Education and University Curriculum Reform in Hong Kong; and serving as guest editor for the 2012 thematic issue on “The Future of Postsecondary STEM Education in the US” for Synesis: A Journal of Science, Technology, Ethics, and Policy by the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies.
