Biography:
Stuart Ives Carrier serves National-Louis University as Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator for the National College of Education’s Educational Leadership – Florida (EDL) Program, based in Tampa, Florida. He teaches EDL graduate courses in Leading Diverse Schools, Building School-Community Partnerships, Leadership & Organizational Development, Communications & Technology for School Leaders, Administration of Curriculum, and Supervising Instruction. Prior to serving NLU in his current faculty position, Stu served Saint Leo University and NLU for 22 years as a higher ed administrator in positions including Executive Director, Dean, Associate Vice President, and Regional Vice President.
His degrees include an A.B.Ed. in English education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, as well as an M.A. in Guidance & Counseling and a Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of South Florida. With a cognate in Educational Technology, his doctorate focused on microcomputer applications in the high school language arts. Stu also studied at the Management of Lifelong Education (MLE) institute at the Harvard University Graduate School of Education and he has completed graduate coursework in Literacy and Technology at the University of Florida.
Stu’s career is characterized by the theme of developing professional learning communities in a variety of collegiate and public-school settings -- within cohort groups, off-campus resident centers, campus systems, and virtual community through online social networking. . For recreation, he reads, jogs, studies music & film, and sustains a backyard waterfall habitat for koi, small mammals, and birds.
