Doctoral Programs
Earn Your Doctoral Degree at NLU
A doctoral degree is synonymous with expertise, experience and leadership. At NLU, you can earn your Ph.D. or Ed.D. in education or community psychology to make an even bigger impact in your field and in your community. We offer nine doctoral programs, each designed to fit your busy schedule and each with a track record of producing compassionate, effective and innovative leaders. You will learn alongside a cohort of diverse, successful peers, applying the latest NLU research to improve the critical institutions and organizations that serve your community.
Doctoral Programs in Education
NLU doctoral programs in education (Ed.D.) provide advanced training to practitioners, principals, superintendents, researchers and policy-makers. Over the course of three years, doctoral candidates will learn how to apply advanced theory to their daily practice, transforming the classroom — and the broader educational system — through strategic planning and compassionate leadership. At the annual Doctoral Symposium, doctoral candidates in education and recent graduates share their research findings and real-world experiences.
Doctoral Programs in the Arts and Sciences
NLU's College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) offers several doctoral programs, including two additional education degrees (Ed.D.) and one of the most progressive and successful Ph.D. programs in psychology in Illinois, providing advanced theory and field training for working with individuals, families and entire communities..
