These are suggested guidelines that you may consider when putting together your syllabus. These have been used successfully by faculty and adjunct but may not work for all. Pick and choose according to your needs. By placing these in your syllabus you are making it clear that your students need to work on their portfolio over the course of the program and not just at the end.

- Add specific information about what your program requirements are. Here is a sample:
- "Electronic Portfolio: All students are required to purchase the Electronic Portfolio system called Livetext and submit projects to it throughout the course of the program. Specific portfolio entries related to the focus of many courses in the program have been developed. Portfolio assignments must be entered by the end of each term. The Electronic Portfolio will be reviewed at specified milestones during the program. This component is a requirement for graduation."
- Arrange a trainer (if necessary) to visit your class or computer lab early so that the actual date can be placed in your syllabus.
- Follow-up the trainer visit with the requirement that students must share their portfolio to either you or the Program Site as a Reviewer. Usually within the next week.
- Require your students to place an artifact into their portfolio and share it to you and/or the Program site as a Reviewer. Make sure it is clear that an Incomplete will be given if they do not do this.
- If your program has a Program site, REQUIRE your students share to it as a Reviewer. These are the LiveText usernames to share with for various programs:
- C & I: "candiprogram"
- EDL: "edlprogram"
- TIE: "tieprogram"
- Special Education: "LBSIprogram"
- IDS: "idsprogram"
- Elem Education: "eledprogram"
- Secondary Education: "secondaryeducation"
- School Psychology: "spfaculty"
- there may be more...
- Have someone in your program organize each of your students into folders (Labels) in your Program Site so finding each student is quick and easy.
- Suggest to students that they visit www.pdfonline.com in order to convert documents to a very compatible file. Even MSWord is having some competition now from other vendors.
- Bet you didn't know...
- Livetext now has 350 universities using it bringing their estimated users to 400,000.
- Livetext has increased its servers from a total of 5 to 9 which constantly back up your work.
- Livetext now has 30 people on its staff and there is always someone picking up the phone when you call the company support line.
- A feature called "Forms" allows programs to sort student data by a variety of new demographics to help the direction and problem areas of your program instantly.
- Gender
- Grants/initiatives/special programs
- GPA
- Minority groups
- Tech skills
- Dispositions
- You name it...
- Some universities, like NLU, import data from Banner to allow them merge the two tools.
- Some universities use the Forms feature for Student Teaching competency appraisals.
- Some supervisors have used a Field Experience template which can be shared between student and supervisor.
