| Description: | The National College of Education of National Louis University is pleased to announce its search for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor of Literacy Education with expertise in Writing Instruction for its masters and doctoral programs in Reading and Language. National College of Education, NCATE accredited, is one of the largest colleges of education in the country, with dynamic programs serving diverse learners. National Louis University (NLU; http://www.nl.edu) is a private, nonprofit, non-religious, Carnegie Masters/L (Masters Colleges and Universities, larger programs) institution that offers a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate degrees and programs in three colleges: National College of Education (NCE), College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), and College of Management and Business (CMB). The University has a long and storied history, having been founded in 1886 by Elizabeth Harrison as one of the nations first schools for the training of kindergarten teachers. Miss Harrisons Training School gradually evolved and grew and changed its name to National College of Education in 1930. A separate College of Arts and Sciences was established in 1982, and the College of Management and Business in 1989. The institution became National Louis University in 1990. NLU serves about 5900 students including about 1400 undergraduates on five Chicagoland campus locations (Chicago, Wheeling, North Shore, Lisle, and Elgin) as well as in academic centers in Wisconsin and Florida. This mission of the college can best be understood through the three words that appear on our logo: Access, Innovation, and Excellence. Throughout our history, we have sought to redefine education through a focus on meeting the needs of diverse individuals through a progressive and practical curriculum. This curriculum evolves along with the changing needs of our surrounding communities and fosters a deep commitment to lifelong learning in our students.
