What is Safe Zone?
Safe Zones at National Louis University are spaces where Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning (LGBTQ) individuals can receive support within a safe and inclusive environment. There are Safe Zones located on all NLU campuses and are identified by the symbol above.
What is a Safe Zone Ally?
A Safe Zone Ally fosters an atmosphere of support and celebration of LGBTQ individuals. Allies are NLU students, faculty, and staff who have successfully completed the Safe Zone training and choose to support and advocate with those who are LGBTQ. Allies take the pledge to be understanding, non-judgmental, and willing to provide acceptance and assistance regardless of sexuality, gender identification/expression or other differences. Safe Zone allies proudly display the NLU Safe Zone symbol as an identifiable source of support.
