Proyecto Comunidad represents a continuation of the National-Louis University mission begun by Elizabeth Harrison in 1886 and the university’s continued commitment to providing access to quality higher education through innovative teaching, scholarship, community engagement and service excellence.

Proyecto Comunidad strives to: Unify more than 54 existing partnerships and foster new ones within the Latino community, Ensure that our internal culture reflects the community we seek to serve and that we adequately support students and faculty, Build this initiative upon the principles of our founder Elizabeth Harrison using research and scholarship to foster community programs and Advocate for policies that empower the Latino community.
Proyecto Comunidad sets expectations for teaching, research, and service that model a healthy, supportive internal community and foster NLU's ability to affirm our values, and particularly our passion for engaging synergistically with the Latino community.
