Great Lakes Science Teacher Badging, Online Digital Learning at Shedd Aquarium:
This free online program allows you to work at your own pace as you accomplish "missions" (activities) related to Great Lakes environmental literacy, science literacy and 21st-century skills. Teachers are awarded digital badges for their missions and skill building, which can be displayed on resumes and social networks.
The Shedd Aquarium has partnered with National Louis University to bring students participating in the Great Lakes Badging experience an opportunity to earn one semester hour of graduate credit. To receive credit, students must complete their badging requirements during an NLU academic term. Register for the badging program with NLU by contacting email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org. Once registered with NLU, register with Shedd.
Tuition is $148 for the one semester hour of NLU graduate credit.

This course, aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards and designed for classroom teachers, encourages the active exploration of the Great Lakes. The curriculum challenges participants on Invasive Species, Environmental Literacy, Science Literacy, and 21s t Century Skills. Participants will enhance their competency in teaching about the Great Lakes environment and science while integrating 21s t century skills into their K-12 classroom lessons. Participants will uncover relevant connections to their current teaching practice and the natural world. This course is offered in partnership with the Shedd Aquarium.
