The Center for Positive Aging at National-Louis University is hosted by the College of Arts and Sciences at the Chicago Metropolitan Campuses. The mission of the center is to promote positive aging through the celebration and honoring of life experiences. We offer opportunities to build upon our strengths. We achieve this goal through educational programming, academics, and research opportunities within our surrounding communities. We invite you to join us for one or all of our programs.

Are you financially independent? How can you reduce debt? What about increasing your savings?

The Center for Positive Aging at National-Louis University offers you a free on-line course to enhance your financial literacy.
Wi$e Up is an eight chapter curriculum that includes the following:
Money for Life, Money Math, Money Basics, Credit in a Money World, Savings Basics, Insurance and Risk Management, Becoming an Investor, and Achieving Financial Security.
The program is designed for Generation X & Y women, but it may be delivered to adult women and men of all ages.
It is offered in a classroom setting with workbooks or as an on-line course.
The goals of the program are to decrease debt and/or increase savings and investments. We encourage Wi$e Up participants to complete the required Chapter(s) 4, 5 and/or 7 and complete the pre-assessment and post-assessment for each chapter completed to assist with program tracking.

The Lifelong Learning Institute at National-Louis University
What exactly is a lifelong learning program? Society has found that older people are avid learners. Scientists say those who continue to learn are physically and mentally healthier. Universities throughout the U.S. have recognized this and are opening their doors to people of retirement age. Click here for more information.
The Transition Network
The Transition Network is a vibrant community of more than 2,100 women in New York City, Chicago, Washington DC, and San Francisco who are facing transitions by dynamically taking control of their lives. Most members are in their fifties and sixties and represent a spectrum of professions in business, government, health care, academia, not-for-profits and the arts. The National Center for Creative Aging
The National Center for Creative Aging (NCCA) is dedicated to fostering an understanding of the vital relationship between creative expression and the quality of life of older people. Creative expression is important for older people of all cultures and ethnic backgrounds, regardless of economic status, age, or level of physical, emotional, or cognitive functioning. The Center for Positive Aging is the Chicago network affiliate of this national program. We share a partnership with The Center for Creative Aging at Harold Washington College. MindAlert Songwriter's Workshop - October 2, 2007
The Songwriter Works event is a collaborative grant sponsored by the American Society on Aging. The Center for Positive Aging is pleased to be partnered with the following organizations for this event: Chicago Department on Aging, Rush Medical Generations, Harold Washington College, and Lexington Health Care.

The Illinois Lifelong Learning and Service Coalition
The most important function of Lifelong has been information sharing. Those starting new programs find a wealth of experience and advice from other members. Other goals are to:
- Develop strategies to involve retirees on campus as learners, mentors, advocates, sharers of their life experiences.
- Advocate for policy and programs that address the educational needs and interests of retirees.
- Conduct research on the educational needs and interests of retirees and their attitudes about and habits of volunteering.
- Inform the Illinois Board of Higher Education and the Illinois Community College Board about the trends and challenges of retirees.
