National Louis University Welcomes Dr. Walter Roettger as Interim Dean
National Louis University has named Dr. Walter Roettger the interim Dean of the College of Management and Business. National Louis University President Nivine Megahed, Ph.D., announced the hiring on February 3.
Roettger comes to National Louis from Lyon College in Batesville, Ark. He served as the college's president from 1998-2009, where he oversaw the creation of new major programs, varsity athletic programs and academic enrichment programs. He coordinated two campaigns that raised $113 million and oversaw the construction of two new campus facilities.
Roettger was named president emeritus of Lyon College in 2009, in which he served in a consultative role working on governance, leadership and institutional strategy. He brings 35-plus years as a professor, dean and administrator to his new role.
"National Louis University offers a terrific opportunity to draw upon my experience and to work with a great faculty and staff in order to brighten the futures and advance the careers of our students," Roettger said. "National Louis has a great story to tell, and it's an honor and a privilege to be a part of it."
As interim dean, Roettger will manage the professional reaccreditation for the College of Management and Business. The College is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, one of six regional accreditation organizations recognized by the United States Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. In addition, the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education has recognized special accreditation for the College's Bachelor of Arts degrees in accounting, business administration, computer information systems, and management; the Bachelor of Science degree in management; the Master of Business Administration degree; and the Master of Science degrees in managerial leadership and human resource management and development.
Roettger will also lead teams developing new curriculum and a strategic planning process.
Megahed said Roettger was the clear top choice for the position.
"He demonstrated vast knowledge about academic administration in general, and business schools in particular," Megahed said. "He was a great listener and not afraid to make decisions.
"We are lucky to have Dr. Roettger join us at National Louis University."
