Biography
Geri A. Chesner is coordinator of NLU's interdisciplinary studies in curriculum and instruction program in Milwaukee. She currently teaches graduate courses related to urban education curriculum and instruction an reform. Teaching at the college level since 1994, she spent twelve years at Alverno College teaching reading and literacy courses at both graduate and undergraduate levels, technology in education courses and integrated social studies methods. She was an elementary teacher in the Milwaukee Public School system prior to 1994. While working on her Ph.D., focused on the visual literacy development of young children through the use of picture books, she discovered visual literacy skills that are developed through this medium.Education
