Robert (Bob) Hiller appointed as the Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management for National-Louis University

Bob will be joining NLU from Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts, a division of Career Education Corporation, where he served as a Vice President of Admissions. In that position, he was responsible for the oversight of college-wide recruiting initiatives and partnership program development designed to target new students.

Joselyn Zivin, Ph.D., has been appointed as the Vice President of Marketing and Communications for National-Louis University.

Joselyn will be joining NLU from Lipman Hearne, a marketing communications firm, where she served as Senior Vice President and Group Director of Brand Strategy and Planning. She has directed major institutional branding accounts, primarily in the higher education sector and has led client teams through all stages of such engagements, from market analysis and research, to strategy formulation, to marketing planning and execution.

NLU alumna Ms. Huong Banh is one of 16 teachers in the United States to receive this award. Ms. Banh mentions her good fortune in having received a scholarship to attend National-Louis University. Banh obtained her B.A. in Elementary Education and M.Ed. in Technology in Education at NLU.

National-Louis University is accepting applications through July 2 for the Elizabeth Harrison Fellowship Program
June 4, 2010
This fall, more than 60 students from underserved communities will have the opportunity to attend National-Louis University’s downtown Chicago campus on Michigan Avenue—across from the Art Institute of Chicago—by becoming members of the founding class of NLU Elizabeth Harrison Fellows. Each Harrison Fellow can receive approximately $50,000 over four years.

NLEI and NLU partner to meet Latino community’s specific educational needs

Last Thursday night marked a rite of passage for over 60 Latino men and women who participated in the National Latino Education Institute (NLEI) 2009 commencement ceremony. In front of a crowd of over 350 family members, friends and teachers, they crossed the stage and became NLEI graduates, prepared to enter the workforce and make their communities proud. That night, they also learned that NLEI is partnering with National-Louis University (NLU) to help them earn a college degree in the same place they have been studying—and within the same supportive environment.

U.S. Department of Education Teacher Quality Partnership grant will create Chicago Teacher Pipeline

Four universities which house Chicago's largest elementary teacher preparation programs have received a Teacher Quality Partnership (TQP) grant from the U.S. Department of Education to create the Chicago Teacher Pipeline Partnership (CTPP) and develop a pipeline of high-quality teachers for Chicago Public Schools (CPS).
The College of Education at University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) will serve as the fiscal agent and lead partner of CTPP, which will team UIC, Loyola University Chicago, National-Louis University (NLU) and Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU) with CPS and 20 high-need CPS K-8 elementary schools.

Department of Education Awards $2.95 Million Grant to Chicago Partnership to Improve Teacher Quality

The U.S. Department of Education (DOE) announced today that it has awarded a $2.95 million Teacher Quality Partnership (TQP) grant to National-Louis University’s (NLU) Institute for Urban Education and the Academy for Urban School Leadership (AUSL). The grant funds an urban teacher residency (UTR) training program that partners NLU and AUSL with Chicago Public Schools (CPS).
