National Board Certification (NBC) @ National-Louis University (NLU)
At NLU, we know what you need to earn National Board Certification. We've designed our graduate program in Interdisciplinary Studies (IDS) to help you prepare for National Board Certification—as well as earn your Master of Education from the acclaimed National College of Education at NLU. So, instead of choosing between a master's degree and NBC, you can work toward both at the same time. The final cohorts for this NBPTS cycle are forming now.

Apply for Subsidy
There are four important steps to follow in order to apply for the ISBE subsidy.
- Teachers must first apply to the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards to receive a candidate number. The non-refundable fee for applying for candidacy is $65. This needs to be done immediately in order to obtain an NBC candidate number required for the ISBE application.

- Teachers must then submit their application for the $2,000 subsidy to ISBE by April 30, 2008. Teachers can access the application form online at http://www.isbe.state.il.us/certification/pdf/77-32_subsidy.pdf. The completed form must be mailed or faxed to ISBE.
- ISBE will notify applicants via email of subsidy awards.
- Students eligible for the ISBE subsidy must then pay the non-refundable $500 initial assessment fee to the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) no later than April 30, 2008. Important Note: If the $500 initial assessment fee is not paid by April 30, 2008 the candidate will be placed on the waiting list for the next funding window in Winter 2008.
